Billing Office Assistant (Pathology) *Strictly Temp Leave Coverage Start Date: ASAP End Date: 10.19.19 (Also depends on when employee returns) Work Schedule: M-F 9a-5p The Incumbent will provide clerical support to the Pathology Billing Office. The Billing Office Assistant will enter, verify, correct, and research patient demographic Information, post charges, payments, perform A/R follow-up, responds to patient and insurance inquiries with appropriate action; reviews and corrects accounts on edit lists generated by all payers. • Provide coverage as necessary for all data entry activities. • Ensure rapid response for all insurance and patient billing issues with appropriate escalation as needed • Keep abreast of the basic functioning and advancements for all areas within the billing unit • Performs other related duties as assigned. Candidate must have knowledge of medical billing and collections. Candidate must have a minimum of (2) years of college or equivalent business experience, plus a minimum of one or two years related experience. Bachelor’s degree desirable. Applicants must be computer literate with working knowledge in IDX, medical billing and collections. Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes preferred Must be detail oriented and have a high level of accuracy Experience with IDX preferred Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred. Experience with IDX preferred Fluency in Spanish preferred 40% Enter, verify and correct patient demographic Information in various billing systems. 20% Post charges, payments, file insurance claims and A/R follow-up 20% Handle customer service request from patients and insurance companies and complete all appropriate follow-up 15% Review and correct accounts on Edit list generated by all payers and E-Commerce and TES 5% Perform similar and related duties as assigned Provide coverage as necessary for all data entry, filing and record keeping activities. -Keep abreast of the basic functioning and advancements for all areas within the billing unit -Ensure rapid response for all insurance and patient billing issues with appropriate escalation as needed Special Indicators • Bloodborne pathogens • Chemicals • Formaldehyde/Xylene • Radioactive materials • Laboratory animals • Contact with patients and/or research subjects • Infectious agents/lasers (please list infectious agents) • Respiratory protection… Salary: $18-20/HR depending on experience
