Medical Biller (Cardiology) *Disability Coverage Start Date: St Apt #1 Report To: Rona Kahn Summary of Responsibilities: The Medical Biller is responsible for performing routine billing duties for the Heart Valve Center/CIVT at Columbia University Medical Center. He/She is responsible for claims processing, including but not limited to charge entry, answering patient inquires and other duties assigned by the Billing Supervisor and Director of Finance. Billing Activities: • Respond to patients billing inquires • Charge entry • Insurance verification • Attend billing, Coding and Compliance meetings as required Other Responsibilities: • Attend staff meetings as required • Assist in training new personnel • Maintain professional demeanor at all times with patients, physicians and with co-workers • Responsible for any other duties as stipulated by the Billing Manager, and Physician • Employee will ensure patient centered care by demonstrating behaviors that reflect a Culture of Service and will strive to meet the expectations of the “Seven Competencies”. Integrity and Credibility 8. • Conforms to all applicable HIPAA Billing Complains and safety guidelines Qualifications: • High School Graduate or Equivalency • History of exemplary follow-through and follow up • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years medical billing experience required with Cardiology a plus • Experience with and knowledge of IDX Billing system • Ability to work independently and takes initiative to improve overall office operations • Strong interpersonal skills… $19/HR
