Radiology Technologist (Fluoroscopy) Per Diem: April 9th, 10th and 11th with one day of orientation and training the previous week April 2nd 5th Work Schedule: 8:00a to 4:30p for all days Work Location: 180 Ft. Washington Ave. Ste. 199, New York, NY 10032 Report To: Melody Ortiz SUMMARY: This is a per diem position and the hours will vary. The incumbent may be scheduled at any of our sites (168th street, 51st Street, Tarrytown, etc.) Under the direction of a physician performs all duties associated with obtaining fluoroscopy images during interventional spine procedures; responsible for the care of the patient while in the Fluoroscopy room and pre/post procedure areas. Assist in ancillary staff duties when the fluoroscopy suite is not busy. Responsible administratively to the Outpatient Clinical Coordinator and Practice Manager. One year of experience preferred. This position may be expected to cover Medical Assistant and Practice Assistant duties as appropriate. REQUIRED TRAINING: HIPAA, OSHA RESPONSIBILITES: 1. Positions patient and selects appropriate options to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy of interest based on accepted X-Ray/fluoroscopy principles and the referring physicians request. Assists in maintaining the fluoroscopic image database for reference (be sure all fields are entered in a systematic way on the fluoro-machine) In the future, may need to be able to transfer digital images to a networked computer. 2. Assist in ancillary staff duties when the fluoroscopy suite is not busy (could include authorization, pre-certifications, patient call backs. 3. Performs clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing and archiving of patient records. (Load MRI CD, hang films, or bring up images for each case on the computer in the fluoro-suite). 4. Offers detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answers questions as appropriate. Able/willing to do pre-procedure or post-procedure phone call follow-ups to patient. 5. Observes patient while in the fluoroscopy area for change in status and makes appropriate intervention when necessary. 6. Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority. 7. Operates and maintains equipment on a daily basis maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedules PM, performs QA, maintains records required for and participates in inspections. 8. Assists physician in administering opaque media. 9. Conforms to all HIPAA, OSHA, Billing Compliance and safety guidelines. Ensure everyone is updated on their radiation safety, keeping the fluoro-suite in compliance with state, hospital and university standards. 10. Maintain lead vests including yearly tests. 11. Integrity and Credibility Position Qualifications/Specifications: Minimum Education: High School Diploma Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology; NYS License, ARRT certified; 1 year of experience preferred. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
