Medical Assistant (Organ Transplant) CMA REQUIRED
Pay: $20-22/HR
The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for the day-to day operations of a by assisting the professional faculty and nurse practitioner(s) in the clinical practice setting. The Certified Medical Assistant is accountable for providing quality care services and assisting the patients as needed in order to ensure a positive patient experience. The Certified Medical Assistant will ensure that all patients, guests, visitors, guests and team members receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity and respect.
Duties and responsibilities: 1. Escort patients from waiting area to exam room 2. Take and record vitals and appropriate meaningful use information and populate into patient record in CROWN 3. Pre-populate medications, allergies and medical/surgical/family history in CROWN during each patient encounter 4. Reconcile medications and allergies during each patient encounter 5. Enter orders in CROWN such as lab, radiology, referrals and patient education orders. 6. Prepare exam rooms and assist physician and/or nursing staff with office procedures 7. Coordinate patient flow with provider, front desk coordinator and secretary, inform patients in exam rooms of any delays 8. Prepare and label specimens with required clinical information and ensure timely pick up/delivery to appropriate department for processing 9. Responsible for entering lab 10. Clean and maintain exam rooms and utility areas 11. Remove and appropriately dispose of expired medical supplies and materials 12. Maintain sterile and nonsterile equipment 13. Keep current on all medical emergency procedures and support upkeep of emergency equipment on the floor 14. Responsible for ordering medical supplies and inventory maintenance of medical supplies and linens in exam rooms 15. Facilitate completion of disability papers, insurance and return to work letters, letters of medical necessity, visiting nurse paperwork 16. Adhere to Divisional phone and email communication standards 17. Facilitate completion of disability papers, insurance and return to work letters, letters of medical necessity and visiting nurse paperwork 18. All other duties as assigned 19. Will attend staff meetings as requested
Minimum education: High school graduate/GED equivalent years in experience Minimum Experience: Knowledge of IDX billing and scheduling systems preferred. Knowledge of Medical terminology. 2-3 years of related experience. Possess knowledge of modern office equipment, systems and procedures. Ability to work independently and takes initiative to improve overall office operations. Strong interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements: Must have excellent customer service skills in a high-pressure environment. Must be able to interact with all levels of staff and must have an understanding of patient’s confidentiality. Bilingual with Spanish is an added plus. Minimum certification requirements: Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant with active credentials/certification. Minimum computer skills: Experience with Allscripts or other Electronic Medical Record system
