Also please note that the candidate must be credentialed/ certified and have adequate transportation as there are no forms of mass transportation that travel to this location. SUMMARY The Medical Assistant will be responsible for assisting the daily clinical operations of a high volume Electrophysiology practice within the Cardiology Division. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Meet and greet patients and visitors. Set up examination /consultation rooms; assure rooms are stocked and cleaned between patient visits. 2. Perform EKGs, holter monitors, blood pressure and INR checks. Utilize the CROWN system to input discreet clinical data elements: medications, allergies, vitals and patient problems in accordance with meaningful use measures. 3. Assist Physicians and Nurse Practitioners as needed in the clinical flow of the practice. 4. Serve as a liaison to the clinical staff, answering phones, scheduling appointments for the office and diagnostic procedures, perform pre-registration intake for new patients by obtaining the minimum data set, prepare appropriate paperwork and/or charts for all incoming patients, confirm appointments, obtain referrals, authorizations, and verification of coverage 5. Perform general office duties such as monitoring the physician’s daily IDX schedules, answering incoming calls, photocopying, faxing and scanning. Assist with Front Desk coverage as needed. 6. Verify patient information in IDX, CROWN, Webcis, and Eagle, determine and collect insurance payments and co-payments. 7. Coordinate required patient documents to be scanned for CROWN filing and designate to the appropriate personnel. 8. Conform to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines. 9. Ensure patient centered care by demonstrating behaviors that reflect a Culture of Service and will strive to meet the expectations of the “Seven Competencies”. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice setting. Minimum Experience: Knowledge of Medical terminology and 2-3 years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of IDX scheduling systems. Physical Requirements: Must have excellent customer service skills in a high pressure environment.
