9-5 The department need someone who has a strong background with transcribing medical documentation. SUMMARY The Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for the day to day operations of a high volume practice by assisting the professional faculty in the Electrophysiology Program with the Division of Cardiology. The CMA is accountable for providing quality care services and assisting the patients as needed in order to ensure a positive patient experience. The CMA will ensure that all patients, guests, visitors, and team members receive personalized, prompt attention and treated with receptiveness, dignity, and respect. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Take and record Vitals and Meaningful Use information and document appropriately in EMR for all patient encounters 2. Assist providers in scribing all office visit documentation in EMR. Requires attention to detail and accuracy 3. Ensure that notes are compliant and signed in a timely manner by providers 4. Pre-populate medications, allergies, and medical/ surgical history in EMR 5. Reconcile medications and allergies during every encounter and update in EMR 6. Complete order entry in EMR to generate test requisitions 7. Assist physician and/ or nursing staff and/ or prepare exam rooms for in office procedures 8. Work closely with mid-level and admin team to facilitate completion of disability papers, insurance and return to work letters, letters of medical necessity and visiting nurse paperwork. 9. Escort patients from waiting area to exam room 10. Clean and maintain exam rooms and utility areas 11. Coordinate patient workflow with provider, front desk coordinator and secretary- inform patients in waiting and exam rooms of any delays 12. Prepare and label specimens with required clinical information 13. Remove and appropriately dispose of any expire medical supplies and materials 14. Maintain sterile and non-sterile equipment 15. Keep current on all medical emergency procedures 16. Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies in exam room 17. Manage medical supply orders and room stocking 18. Accept and prepare linens, as needed in exam room and procedure rooms 19. Support administrative staff as needed with answering phones, scanning medical records and other duties as assigned. 20. Conform to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety guidelines. 21. Ensure patient centered care by demonstrating behaviors that reflect a Culture of Service and will strive to meet the expectations of the “Seven Competencies”. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice setting. NYS Certified Medical Assistant Certificate Minimum Experience: Knowledge of Medical terminology and 2-3 years of related experience preferred. Experience with scribing/ medical transcription is a plus. Knowledge of IDX scheduling systems. Physical Requirements: Must have excellent customer service skills in a high pressure environment.
