Medical Assistant (Surgery/Kidney Transplant)

Hours: Full Time. Monday-Friday 9:00AM to 5:00PM 

Pay: $15/HR

Participates in ordering clinical supplies for all three Colon and Rectal Surgery Locations. Works with Vendors and Practice Administrator to ensure best price and best product is ordered per Physician preferences. Follows up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of clinical supplies that are entered into the SAP system and with· Vendors. Works with Practi~e Administrator to develop spreadsheet to track purchases per clinical location. Manages expiration dates and inventory on clinical supplies.

Assists Lead Clinical Technician in helping to train and orient temporary Clinical Technicians as
needed.

Performs phlebotomy if needed after completion of a certification program.

Performs other related duties as required.

Provides patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; ac·companying· patients to exam procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking. transfers, dressingJ collecting specimensJ preparing for exam, etc.; taking patient's vital·signs including blood pressureJ height, weight and entering vital signs in Electronic medical record (EMR); updating or collecting patient history, including meaningful use measuresj assisting physicians and or nurses in exam room during visit procedures; assist . practitioners under their direct and personal supervision to carry out a speCiT1c Laskj relay information about provider. wait time status to patients and their families; answering internal
calls related to outpatient clinic appointment directed to the clinical area and providing pertinent information. Perform EKGs when necessary. Prep patient for procedure under the direct supervision of the provider as needed.

Performs clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: entering data in EPIC; sending receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab x-ray reports. hospital notes, referral information, etc.j completing forms requisitions as needed; managing charting process to ensure information is completed and filed or scanned appropriately; prepare and send blood, cultures and or other specimens to appropriate laboratories as requested. If applicable, perform clerical work such as billing and acting as scribes in the EMR.

Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: washing and sterilizing equipment; setting up instruments and equipment according to practice protocol; cleaning exam procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patients; restocking exam procedure room, log, track and transport instruments to central supply for sterilization; ordering, 'sorting, storing supplies, regularly checking dated materials and medications for expiration date and discarding expired items, under supervision. Perform daily routine assessments to ensure cleanliness of facility. identify, log and report issues via appropriate SENTAC request.

Logs and reports clinical office equipment issues as they arise. Reports applicable issues to ITS as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
* • Completion of a medical assistant training course that includes phlebotomy training.
• High school diploma
